Babies with Feeding Difficulties

At a recent meeting of the Lactation Consultants of Australia and NZ, Jude gave a presentation about how cranial osteopaths treat babies with feeding difficulties. Many had had instances of babies being able to latch for the first time after receiving osteopathic treatment.

If you have a baby who is having difficulty breast feeding for example, unable to latch to the breast, maintain a latch, or unable to suckle effectively, having your baby assessed and treated by a cranial osteopath may be helpful.

Some signs that your baby could benefit from osteopathic treatment are if your baby favours or feeds better from one breast, favours their head to one side, or has difficulty opening or closing their mouth.

Other indicators are if your baby has had a difficult labour such as a prolonged second stage, or a forceps or ventouse delivery.
